CBD topicals are growing in popularity as a potential treatment for a range of skin conditions, and even just as a general skincare ingredient. Today on the blog, we are taking a look at CBD cream for eczema, including why it might be helpful and how you can use it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is eczema?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Eczema is the name used to refer to a group of skin conditions which cause dry and irritated skin. The most common type is atopic eczema or atopic dermatitis, which causes the skin to become itchy, dry, cracked and sore. It is common in children but can also develop in adults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other types of eczema include discoid eczema, a long-term skin condition that causes skin to become itchy, swollen and cracked in circular or oval patches, and contact dermatitis, a type of eczema triggered by contact with a particular substance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is no cure for atopic eczema and, although it can significantly improve over time for some, severe eczema can have a significant impact on daily life and physical and mental wellbeing. However, there are treatments which can help to relieve the symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why might CBD cream be good for eczema?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

CBD, or cannabidiol, is a compound which is extracted from the hemp plant. It does not cause a high but is thought by some to hold value as a treatment for certain conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some have suggested that CBD topicals, including CBD cream, could be used to relieve the symptoms of eczema by reducing pain, itchiness and inflammation. This is because eczema is an inflammatory skin condition and CBD is known for having anti-inflammatory properties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research<\/a> has shown that CBD has a lot of potential as an anti-inflammatory, which is why it is widely thought that it could help a number of related conditions like arthritis, chronic pain and skin conditions like eczema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CBD also has antioxidant properties<\/a>, and some believe that it could therefore offer additional protection for the skin barrier for those who suffer from eczema. This is because antioxidants help to protect against the free radicals which attack our skin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The research into CBD for eczema is still in its early stages but one 2019 study<\/a> investigated the impact of CBD ointment on skin conditions including atopic eczema. The results showed that topical treatment with CBD-enriched ointment significantly improved the symptoms of all skin conditions analysed, including atopic eczema and no irritant or allergic reactions were detected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We believe that CBD topicals such as creams and ointments show great promise for skin conditions like eczema and we are excited to see further research as it develops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How should you use CBD cream for eczema?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While it is often CBD oil that you hear a lot about, a product that is taken orally, it is generally thought that CBD topicals are best for skin conditions like eczema because they can be applied directly to the affected areas. This is why we have chosen to focus specifically on CBD cream for eczema and how you can use it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are a range of body lotions, creams and ointments out there, but for eczema you want to find one that offers to soothe and calm your skin without any additional frills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
